Jan. 28th, 2025 12:54 pmImmigration is a hot topic right now. The social media is flooded with it. the Trump administration is in its second week of its term and are ramping up their deportation program which turns out to not only focus upon illegal and criminal immigrants but also on those legally here and those awaiting approval for entry by legitimate means. There is even talk of deporting citizens of the native American community. In short - its not about controlling immigration. Its about purging the country of non-whites. An impossible task but this administration looks to give it a good try because this is what the political base wants. So far, every executive action issued on this subject has been challenged and will wind through the courts. Every trial balloon floated i.e.deporting native Americans has been shot down. But the Trump administration goes on - ICE has been deployed and communities are dealing with raids and arrests. Violence can't be far behind.
I have neighbors across the street who are refugee immigrants from the Congo. A large family of 7 people. A local church sponsors and takes care of them. I fear for them. Its only a matter of time before they get a knock on the door from ICE. They are here legally but that doesn't matter - they are the wrong color, culture and speak the wrong language. That makes them a target. This is what its like now.

I'm watching a documentary about Sean P Diddy Coombs about his rise and current fall. He was a big deal in the 90's. One of the first Rap music "moguls". He revolutionized the genre by introducing a slew of innovations along with discovering and promoting some of its biggest stars including Mary J Blige and Biggy Smalls. He has had a series of legal troubles along the way including being charged with shooting people in a club. He has managed to skirt all of these crimes and has never seen jail time or any accountability. He is an example of how the rich and powerful navigate life here in America regardless of race. Money and Influence are the shield they all have. Until there comes a day when your relevance fades and you are no longer the force you once were - then the pigeons come home to roost. Diddy has been out of the public eye for a while until recently when a few of his victims have finally come forward to publicly denounce him as a violent serial rapist who organized and hosted sex parties where women were routinely drugged and abused by not only Diddy himself but his guests as well. Its a massive legal battle that will likely take years to wind through the courts. I don't think Diddy will see jail time but he will be fined enormous sums of money and he will fade into music history becoming more irrelevant with each passing day but still wallowing in a lifestyle most can only imagine. His victims will only be able to soothe themselves with the money they get from him and the ease it gives the remainder of their lives. Its the best only outcome I can see - in this country or anywhere - the rich and powerful rarely go to jail and lose everything. Even diminished bad boy rappers like Diddy.
